WestEd is the prime contractor developing all elementary, middle school, and high school assessment items for the state of Kansas assessment program. This program is designed to meet the expectations of the federal No Child Left Behind Act and challenging state content standards.

Staff from WestEd's Assessment & Standards Development Services program are developing assessment items in English language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. They also facilitate content and bias review activities for all test items.

In addition, WestEd is working with the Kansas State Department of Education to develop its alternate assessment based on modified achievement standards for students with disabilities.
